Oh what a tangled web of cords and wires we weave.

Wires & CordsYou would think we would all be entirely wireless by now. We aren’t. I blame batteries. I kind of blame the issue on the fact that not all of our devices can talk to each other wirelessly… but mostly I just blame batteries. Batteries on all our devices need to be charged. Unless we figure out some way to efficiently charge our cell phones, computers, and other small, commonly used, essential devices with indoor and or outdoor lighting we will always need to carry around at least 2 annoyingly tangled cords. How many times have you left your cell phone charger somewhere that prevents you from charging it? How many times have you had to be interrupted on your big project because you ran out of time on your computer battery? Yeah, sucks. So instead of focusing mainly on speed and size, why is no one dominating the market with the most efficient battery. I mean many companies claim to sell devices with long lasting batteries, but let’s be real who actually sells one? Even if the battery is decently efficient it only takes a couple improper charging incidences before you have upset the happy battery balance.

I mean obviously it would be much more sustainable to have solar powered small, commonly used, essential devices but more importantly doesn’t the whole cords are annoying card pull any weight here? I think Apple and Google should focus more on this. End rant.

Cords I unfortunately cannot live without:
- Cell phone charger
- Computer charger
- Verizon Fivespot charger
- Headphones
- iPod to computer cord
- Camera to computer cord
- iPod shuffle charger
- External hard drive to computer cord
- External hard drive power cord

  1. umbilical cord?

  2. You can actually cut the cord on most of those items on your list. Conductive charging is around, while not yet built in to many gadgets you can get it on your phone, and ipod to charge without cables, and blue tooth can cut the cord on your headphones and most things talking with your computer. Now if only Apple would allow you to sync wirelessly (which you can do if you jailbreak).
